May 2025 Impact Report

At Healing with Hyperbarics of North Dakota, each month is a reminder of why we do what we do—empowering recovery, advancing brain health, and restoring quality of life through cutting-edge hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). May was no exception. From Veteran care to concussion recovery, our clinic saw powerful stories of progress fueled by science, compassion, and community support.

Concussion Treatment Spotlight: May 2025 Highlights

This month, we treated a combined 8 concussion patients, including:

  • 4 acute concussion injuries, and

  • 4 individuals navigating post-concussion syndrome (PCS).

These numbers reflect more than appointments, they represent personalized healing journeys, supported by our physician-developed TREAT a Concussion protocol, created by Dr. Daphne Denham.

Unlike symptom-based approaches, our method addresses the root of the injury by:

  • Delivering high concentrations of oxygen to damaged brain tissue

  • Decreasing inflammation and oxidative stress

  • Supporting neurological repair and improved blood flow

Acute vs. Post-Concussion Recovery: What to Know

  • Acute Concussions: These are injuries treated within the first 10 days. Patients often experience rapid improvements in symptoms like dizziness, nausea, and mental fog within just a few sessions. (Our average across more than 1,000 concussions is less than 4 treatments needed for full symptom recovery)

  • Post-Concussion Syndrome (PCS): PCS refers to symptoms that linger well beyond the initial injury, sometimes for months or years. Our HBO protocols are designed to offer lasting relief by restoring oxygen to areas of the brain that have remained underperforming since the injury.

Here’s what we’ve been hearing from patients:

“Wow, what a great place with kind and caring staff. Everything was explained thoroughly prior to beginning treatments. The facility was really clean and accommodating to allow internet access, so I could work while waiting. Most importantly, my son had amazing results after each treatment with fewer concussion symptoms and then eventually none! We highly recommend Healing with Hyperbarics and would consider returning to treat other health issues for the whole family.”

We’re proud to continue building one of the Midwest’s most trusted resources for safe, evidence-based concussion treatment—because concussions are treatable, and real recovery is possible.

Far from Fargo: How Far Patients Travel for Concussion Recovery

The need for effective, root-cause concussion care continues to grow, and patients are willing to go the distance for real healing. In May alone, concussion patients traveled a combined 362 miles to receive hyperbaric oxygen therapy at our Fargo clinic.

These aren’t just numbers, they’re miles filled with hope, determination, and the pursuit of answers after injury. Whether someone came from a small rural town, across the border, or hours away, their journey speaks to the reputation our clinic has built for safe, personalized, and science-backed recovery.

At Healing with Hyperbarics, we’re committed to making every mile count by providing:

  • Expert-led concussion protocols

  • Compassionate, individualized care

  • A trusted space for healing, no matter how far you’ve come

Next time you visit our clinic, check out our U.S. map—we’ve marked each pin with a patient’s starting point. From across the Midwest and beyond, healing journeys continue to lead here, to Fargo.

Veteran Healing Spotlight: May Treatment Day Recap

One of our most important monthly initiatives is providing free hyperbaric oxygen therapy for Veterans, made possible through generous donor support and our clinic’s deep commitment to those who served.

In May, 6 Veterans received HBO therapy at no cost, for:

  • Traumatic brain injuries (TBI)

  • PTSD

  • Chronic pain

  • Mental health and emotional regulation struggles (like anxiety, depression and anger)

Veteran patients often come to us with years of symptoms (brain fog, poor sleep, irritability, and mood swings) and many find hope through HBOT’s impact on the brain.

How HBOT Helps Veterans:

  • Reduces chronic inflammation in the brain

  • Improves mood, sleep, clarity, and focus

  • Provides a non-pharmaceutical approach to managing PTSD and TBI-related symptoms

Our work with Veterans continues to grow, thanks to support from individuals, families, and partners who believe that healing should be accessible to those who’ve served.

A New Partnership with the Brady Oberg Legacy Foundation

We are honored to announce a new and deeply meaningful partnership with the Brady Oberg Legacy Foundation, an organization dedicated to honoring the life of Brady Oberg and supporting Veterans living with the invisible wounds of war, particularly PTSD and brain trauma.

Through this collaboration, we’re expanding access to hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) for Veterans by offering:

  • Free monthly treatment days

  • Full-course treatment scholarships, fully funded by the Foundation

  • Ongoing education and advocacy around the impact of TBI and PTSD on mental health in our Veteran Community

Brady’s legacy lives on through the Foundation’s commitment to ensuring that no Veteran walks alone in their healing journey. Together, we are working to bring real, root-cause healing to those who’ve served, rebuilding brain health, restoring emotional balance, and offering renewed hope.

This partnership reflects our shared belief: Healing is possible. And Veterans deserve access to it.

Mental Health Matters: May’s Broader Message

May marked Mental Health Awareness Month, and with it, a vital reminder: Mental health and brain health are deeply connected.

Many of the symptoms people associate with mental health struggles, depression, anxiety, mood instability, can be the result of untreated brain injury. Our goal at Healing with Hyperbarics is not just to manage those symptoms, but to help the brain heal so those symptoms are treated and diminish naturally.

Whether someone is recovering from a concussion, a blast injury, or years of invisible trauma, HBO therapy offers a chance to restore what’s been lost—and reclaim a sense of self. Follow us on social media to stay up-to-date with all of our initiatives.

Looking Ahead

In the months ahead, we’re focused on:

  • Launching our next Veteran Free Treatment Day (June 27th)

  • Expanding access through community partnerships (including our collaboration with The Brady Oberg Legacy Foundation, updates to come later in June.)

  • Preparing for our upcoming concussion research study (set to launch this fall)

A huge thank you to our community for all of your continued support of our mission. We would not be able to do what we do without you.

Let’s keep healing, together. 💙
