Veteran Healing Through Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

Treating Brain Injuries, Post-Traumatic Stress & Chronic Symptoms in Veterans

At Healing with Hyperbarics, we’ve worked alongside veterans since 2018 — offering personalized, research-backed hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) to help heal the invisible wounds of war.

HBOT is especially effective in treating:

  • Traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), including concussions & post-concussion syndrome (PCS)

  • Anxiety, depression & mood changes

  • Post-traumatic stress (PTS), formerly known as PTSD

  • Sleep disturbances & nightmares

  • Cognitive challenges & emotional regulation

While HBOT’s primary benefit is its ability to stimulate healing in the brain and nervous system, many veterans also experience significant improvements in chronic pain, inflammation, and fatigue — common side effects of service-related trauma.

We are committed to providing the best possible care for our veterans. Our treatments are backed by extensive research and data, ensuring that we offer scientifically validated solutions. We understand the unique challenges faced by veterans and are here to support them every step of the way.

"It has helped completely, and I have no more suicidal thoughts, I deal with depression still, but am doing great. I'm able to participate in life, and I owe it all to Hyperbarics. I tell all my friends and family about Hyperbarics and it’s hard not to get choked up about how it has completely changed my life and gave me a second chance to live."

Expanding Veteran Access Through the Brady Oberg Legacy Foundation

We’re honored to partner with the Brady Oberg Legacy Foundation (BOLF) — an organization devoted to supporting veterans' mental health in honor of Sgt. Brady Oberg, a combat veteran who lost his life to the effects of war-related trauma.

Together, we’ve launched an initiative to make hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) more accessible to veterans in need of healing and hope.

What This Partnership Provides

Free Monthly Veteran Treatment Days

Veterans can schedule an HBOT session at no cost during one designated day each month, thanks to the support of the Brady Oberg Legacy Foundation.

Upcoming dates:
Monday, July 29
• Wednesday, August 28
• Thursday, September 26

Scholarship for Full HBOT Course

Each month, one veteran will be awarded a full course of hyperbaric oxygen therapy, fully funded by the Brady Oberg Legacy Foundation. This includes an initial consultation and a 3-week personalized treatment plan, designed to support brain healing and symptom relief.

If you or a veteran you know is struggling with PTSD, brain injury, or other service-related symptoms — we invite you to apply.

Why Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Works for Veterans

Many of the wounds veterans carry aren’t visible on the surface — but they’re very real.

Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) helps by delivering 100% pure oxygen in a pressurized chamber, allowing your body to absorb more oxygen than it normally would. This oxygen floods the bloodstream and reaches damaged or inflamed areas, including the brain, where it can:

  • Reduce inflammation & swelling in the brain

  • Stimulate the growth of new blood vessels & brain cells

  • Improve circulation & oxygen delivery to injured tissue

  • Support mood regulation, memory & cognitive clarity

  • Help restore balance in the nervous system after trauma

The result? Improved brain function, fewer symptoms, and a renewed sense of hope. HBOT is backed by growing research and used by veterans nationwide as a powerful tool in their recovery.

"I’m excited for this partnership so other veterans can experience the same thing I have experienced — an increase in quality of life like they haven’t had before. After 15 sessions for me, I’m a much better person than I was before. I’m less confrontational or easy to spark anger. My sleeping is great. I can’t say it enough — how beneficial it is and how it really works.”

How HBOT Works

The Veteran Treatment Process

Whether you’re applying for the scholarship or calling to reserve your spot for our Free Veteran Treatment Days, the process is simple and supportive.

  • You'll meet one-on-one with Dr. Daphne Denham, our experienced provider specializing in hyperbaric oxygen therapy for brain-related injuries. During this consultation, she’ll review your symptoms, medical history, and treatment goals to determine if HBOT is the right fit for you.

  • Based on your consultation and individual needs, we’ll create a customized treatment plan outlining the number of sessions recommended, treatment frequency, and any supportive care considerations. Factors like your specific symptoms, goals, and response to treatment all play a role in shaping your plan — because no two healing journeys are the same.

  • During each session, you'll relax inside a pressurized chamber while breathing pure oxygen — typically for about 60 minutes. Most veterans say it’s calming and restorative. Each session builds on the last, supporting long-term brain and body healing.

  • We check in regularly to monitor your progress, answer questions, and make adjustments to your plan if needed. You’re never alone — our team is here to walk alongside you every step of the way.

FAQs About HBOT for Veterans

Have questions about hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), our veteran programs, or how to apply for treatment? You're not alone.

Below are some of the most commonly asked questions from veterans and their families about this life-changing therapy and the services we provide in partnership with the Brady Oberg Legacy Foundation.

  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a non-invasive treatment that delivers 100% oxygen in a pressurized chamber, allowing your body to absorb more oxygen than normal. This super-oxygenated environment supports healing at the cellular level — especially in areas where blood flow or oxygen levels have been reduced due to injury or inflammation.

For veterans, HBOT is particularly effective in addressing invisible injuries related to military service, such as:

    • Traumatic brain injuries (TBIs), including concussions & post-concussion syndrome (PCS)

    • Anxiety, depression & mood changes

    • Post-traumatic stress (PTS), formerly known as PTSD

    • Sleep disturbances & nightmares

    • Cognitive challenges & emotional regulation

    • Chronic pain, inflammation & fatigue

    HBOT works by:

    • Reducing brain inflammation

    • Stimulating the growth of new blood vessels & nerve tissue

    • Improving circulation & oxygen delivery to injured areas

    • Supporting neuroplasticity & cognitive recovery

If you have additional questions, feel free to contact our team at 701.251.0247.

  • Yes, a growing body of research and real-world results show that hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) can significantly help veterans experiencing PTSD, TBI, and other brain-related injuries. Learn more at TreatNOW.org.

  • Hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) is a safe, non-invasive treatment with very few risks. At Healing with Hyperbarics, we’ve spent years developing proprietary safety protocols that go beyond national standards, especially for veterans navigating PTSD, brain injuries, and trauma recovery.

Most side effects are mild and manageable, such as:

    • Ear pressure or popping, similar to what you might experience during a flight. We provide water and techniques to help relieve this discomfort during your session.

    • Fatigue or grogginess after early sessions as your body adjusts.

    • Emotional memories or flashbacks may resurface, in some cases, as the brain begins to heal. We recommend avoiding war-related movies, shows, or other potentially triggering content during sessions, especially in the early stages of treatment. We also encourage veterans to ensure a support system is aware of their hyperbaric journey, so trusted family members, friends, or care providers can offer additional emotional support as needed.

We take every precaution to make your experience safe, supported, and trauma-informed. You’ll never go through this alone — our team will walk with you every step of the way.
