Nominate A Great

Greg The Great’s Legacy Lives on

In honor of Greg Stanke, a beloved athlete, husband, and friend who lost his life to the invisible injuries of repeated brain trauma, we’re launching a special initiative to carry his story forward in a life-changing way. Together with Shannan, his wife and author of Bumped His Head and Went to Bed, we invite you to nominate your “Great”—a man you love and admire who may be silently suffering from the mental health effects of a brain injury. These Greats will have the opportunity to win a life-changing course of treatment.

Whether from football, rodeo, or everyday life, brain injuries often go unrecognized—and in men, emotional symptoms like depression, anger, anxiety, and withdrawal are too often left untreated. This partnership is our commitment to breaking that silence and offering real healing, in Greg’s name. Please nominate your “Great” below.

Meet the Author, Shannan Stanke

Shannan Stanke is the wife of the late Greg the Great, mother of three, and proud Grandmother to ***.

She wrote Bumped His Head and Went to Bed to gently share their family’s journey with Charlie—and now, with others who may be navigating similar losses or questions. Shannan’s hope is that this story opens the door for families, children, and even adults to recognize the connection between past head injuries and present mental health struggles.

Her mission is to raise awareness about:

  • The long-term effects of concussions and sub-concussive hits

  • How repeated head trauma can impact emotional and cognitive health

  • The often overlooked or misunderstood signs of CTE and post-concussion syndrome

Shannan shares this story to help others better understand what many brain-injured individuals cannot always express for themselves—and to spark conversations that may lead to healing.

Spread the Word

You can be part of this movement. Whether by purchasing the book, nominating someone you love for treatment, or simply starting a conversation, your voice matters. Share this initiative with your community, talk to the men in your life about brain health and mental well-being, and help us break the silence around the lasting effects of concussions and head trauma. Together, we can bring awareness, offer hope, and create healing—for the ones we call “Great.”
